September 24, 2007 - Fanboys, prepare to wet yourselves: Jessica Biel is reportedly in talks to play Wonder Woman in director George Miller's live-action Justice League of America movie!
According to Variety, "Potential deal marks the first piece of casting to emerge from the DC Comics-based ensemble project, which is expected to feature Superman, Batman, the Flash and Aquaman in addition to Wonder Woman."
The trade contacted Warner Bros. who "declined comment, saying that it prefers to announce an entire cast rather than piecemeal deals."

Yes, but it's already been stated neither he nor Brandon Routh, who starred in the new Superman movie, will reprise their roles in the JLA movie. Sorry. (not that I really cared about Brandon Routh playing Superman
)
I also realize that while editing the title I got it confused. It should read that she's in talks to star as Wonder Woman in the new JLA movie, but there's no option for me to edit my first post, sorry. I'm sure it's all Fett's fault

As per your PM'd request, FlakBait, I corrected the thread title for you. 8)
Can I ask one question? Why is everybody discussing who should play Batman, Ratman, Matman etc? ??? For C*****'s sake; it looks as though WW might be played by THE sexy buff actress of her generation! :o It's a buff-chick fan's wet dream - we've got to get all the good karma we can behind this! 8)
I think CPBell, the reason we are concerned who plays Batman, Superman, Flash, etc is because if they put a sexy, buff, gorgeous actress like Biel in the movie and they put horrid actors in the other roles then the movie loses all credibility. We want this movie to succeed so that there is a chance to see sequels and more movies with buff sexy actresses. It is very important who plays the other key roles.
On a side note, I believe Mimi posted a last week or the week before that Tom Welling from Smallville is rumored to be set to play his Superman role, although his management company denies. I think he makes a much better Superman than Routh does anyway (and I'm from Iowa, same as Routh.)http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/09/03/justice-league-of-america-movie-begins-casting-in-canada/
I also just read that Ryan Reynolds might be playing the Flash. If anyone saw Blade: Trinity they know that Reynolds could easily play a superhero and be comic relief at the same time. Good pick.

Ah, I see. I thought that the nerd aspect had overtaken the essential "Bielissoooohooot" aspect. ;D From what I saw of Blade Trinity, Reynolds is convincing. Didn't see the most recent Superman film, so I cannot comment on Routh (sp?) Interestingly, just as you mention being against Routh despite the fact that he's from your home state, I'm dead against the suggestions from readers of the article Lingster linked that Kate Beckinsale should be WW, despite the fact that she's British and I thought her dad was a brilliant comedy and straight actor. She just doesn't make me think "Wow, Amazon!"; yes, she's pretty, but that isn't the point. WW must be played by someone who's sexy in a sultry, exotic way, but, most importantly, IMO she must have a powerul physical presence.
Of course, the best thing about this is that it gives Biel an excuse to hit the weights again.

Exactly - she had to lose a fair chunk of that gorgeous beef for some of the lighter films she did such as the Chuck and Larry one, (how did Adam Sandler remain gentlemanly?) but now, we're looking (please, god) at Stealth-levels of muscle or possibly even something equal to Blade buffness. 8)

Jessica Biel?
Are you kidding me??!!!
NO! NO NO NO NO NO NO!
I'm probably gonna start a war here, but I don't care.
Wonder Woman is NOT supposed to be ripped. She's supposed to be TONED and ravishingly beautiful, not buff like She-Hulk.
Jessica Biel is just all wrong for Wonder Woman. All wrong. She's too young looking, her mouth isn't right and…NO!
I want Kate Beckinsale to play Wonder Woman. Tom Welling, oh he's gonna take Christopher Reeve's place as Superman. It is written and foretold. Ryan Reynolds would make a GREAT Wally West. As for Batman, they don't really need him around…just…hints that he's around. I'd much rather have Green Arrow around than Batman. We'd need a Martian Manhunter, a Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner or Hal Jordan…no Guy Gardner), a Black Canary, a Hawkman, an Atom and a Zatanna (I nominate Mimi for Zatanna…and not because I wanna see her in fishnets).
Well, you won't start a war DP but you might face some stiff (no pun intended) opposition. I would definitely agree with Mimi's suggestion that Katherine McPhee with 20 more lbs and 6 mos of Gym time would work, but I would require that also of your keeping with Kate Beckinsale. WW is an Amazon Princess and that is what this place is all about. There needs to be definite and visible muscle on any woman that portrays her.
Jessica Biel just doesn't seem right for the role to me, Kate Beckinsale really doesn't either. I think she'd make a cute Zatanna though. WW wasn't, as far as I remember, ripped, but she was NOT skinny. The main thing that I remember is that she was quite tall. I have no idea who they should get but I'm comfortable with the fact that the casting won't be perfect.

Ok, did I not say that WW was TONED…not buff???
Yeesh.
Do I have pull out all my WW stuff?
I will, if I have to.

Er Mimi…
"Wafer-thin actress like JB" - we ARE talking about the same JB aren't we? Jessica Biel? This gorgeous, muscled-yet-still-outrageously-curvy babe?
, but many of us here would love to see it. I know that you're not into the bufness side of things, but, if you look in the art threads here devoted to WW, you'll find that she is interpreted in many different ways. Some see her as a tall, beautiful beanpole with twig arms, some as a woman with 18" biceps, and all shades in between. Yes, original WW material shows her looking like a 1500 metre runner, but that was before women really started bufing-up. Times change, opinions move on, if you cannot bear the thought of WW having noticeable muscles then I respectfully suggest you stick with Lynda's version.

It actually depends on witch artist and editor gets a hold of her. I've seen quite a few comics that she could have walked onto a bodybuilding stage and placed rather well. It's also a matter of personal opinion and I happen to think that Jessica would be awesome for the role.

DP…I'm sorry, I like you lots, but please do not utter that dreadful "T" word size=8pt. >:( That word is used by anti-femuscle people to describe either skinny-fat girls or those who think that lifting 3 pound weights every day for a year is both daringly unfeminine and risky because it migt just make them look like Ronnie Coleman.

OK, JOG ON, BAWBAG. Pogue ni mahone. Seriously.
I'm TONED and damn proud of it.
Beautiful women come in all shapes and sizes.
Now I'm fucking pissed.
Since when does WW have to be buffed not ripped? There aren't any authorities on this. And by
the way, numerouis depictions of WW by different artists do show her as ripped. It's a matter
of taste and preference, in other words purely subjective, and there's simply no good reason
for WW not to be ripped. Just because Lynda Carter showed no muscle is no reason why
a new WW has to be the same.
